The Isle of Arts takes place each spring in the pretty seaside town of Ventnor set in the shelter of St Boniface Down, the highest point on the Island.

Isle of Arts Festival in Ventnor Isle of Wight

A Warm Welcome

Ventnor enjoys an exceptionally mild climate and offers a range of venues of varying sizes all within walking distance of the centre, making it the ideal location for a festival. Visitors are ensured of a warm welcome in this vibrant, friendly town and it is well worth exploring the many independent boutiques, antique shops and wonderful cafes that line the streets. It is tempting to combine the festival with a relaxing break, and many do.

Something for Everyone

Over a period of four days the festival offers an exciting mix of comedy, drama, music, literature, and the visual arts by local artists and performers, and those of national and international renown. There are special children’s events, walks and master classes covering an eclectic range of interests, and plenty of opportunity to engage in hands on creativity. Click on the ‘previous festivals’ page to get a flavor of events from previous years.

The Arts Trail

Mini exhibitions and installations are on view in shops, cafes and other unexpected locations, known collectively as the Arts Trail. This important and always popular part of the festival provides festival goers with the opportunity to discover spectacular collections of paintings, sculptures and other art installations mostly created by local artists. Pictures, artisan jewelry, hand stitched shoulder bags and cards are available to buy often direct from the artist, and some are happy to take commissions too. This year, local artists’ work will be on show from Tuesday 29th April through to Saturday 10th May.

In 2014, due to a late Easter, the festival will move from its traditional third weekend in April to the bank holiday weekend of 2nd to 5th May
