Kashmir Fringe at Newport Quay Arts

The festival season on the Isle of Wight kicks off to an early start this year with a brand new Fringe Festival

The festival season on the Isle of Wight kicks off to an early start this year with a brand new Fringe Festival in the Island’s capital Newport.

Quay Arts, who present Kashmir Cafe at the Isle of Wight Festival each year, have announced that they will be hosting a Kashmir Fringe on Sunday 23 February from 2pm. The event will showcase the very best in live music from well established artists and bands further afield that have all previously played in the Kashmir Cafe. The line up will also feature a roster of new acts that are fast becoming favourites on the Island music scene.

Quay Arts have a long association with the Isle of Wight Festival and relish the opportunity that a professionally run stage at a major festival offers for showcasing talented local musicians. The majority will have performed regularly at Quay Arts throughout the year.

Photography Exhibition

Alongside the Kashmir Fringe, Lucy Boynton’s photographic exhibition, “Camera on Kashmir” will have its preview in the Rope Store Gallery. Relive magical memories from the Isle of Wight Festival and the Kashmir Cafe of years past all beautifully captured in Lucy’s photographs, and dream of summer festival days to come.

The exhibition will run from Monday 24th February until Saturday 12th April.

Entry to both events is free but it will get booked up fast. So if you find yourself Island bound on a mid-winter break, and in search of something to lift those winter blues, get a foretaste of the summer at this fringe event - without the mud and the portaloos!
